New York Community Bank is the largest thrift in the nation and one of the leading thrift depositories in most of the markets we serve. Our roots go back to 1859, when we were chartered by the State of New York in Queens, a borough of New York City. Since then, we have grown from a single branch in Flushing to 237 branch offices in five states!

military culture

NYCB is proud to support its employees who bring the perspectives of military personnel into our workforce. Three military veterans are part of the Human Resources Talent Acquisition Team, where they provide ongoing training and advice to all other recruiters throughout the year. Additionally, NYCB is supportive and sensitive to all employees, including new talent who may be transitioning from a military environment into a corporate workplace. Our Employee Assistance and Work / Life Support Program 24 / 7 is available to all team members, including veterans who may face challenges during their transition. At the same time, NYCB strives to maintain a diverse culture among its workforce, but this welcoming environment doesn’t pertain just to candidates and new hires. All NYCB employees are required to complete online training modules several times throughout the year to reinforce the importance of diversity and inclusion. This fosters a sense that it’s okay to speak up and suggest better ways to service the demographic groups among our customer base. This was the impetus for My Community Military Checking that is directed toward active and former military personnel who bank with us.

military spouse recruitment and hiring

As our policy isn’t specific to military spouses, NYCB is an equal opportunity employer that prohibits discrimination in hiring or terms and conditions of employment on the basis of race, color, age, sex, national origin, ethnicity, religion, marital status, disability, military status, veteran status, domestic violence victim status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, genetic information or any other classification protected by the federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
New York Community Bank participates in several recruiting/hiring events that are organized specifically for military veterans and their spouses who are seeking employment opportunities. Our recruiters attend several of these events each year that are hosted by Recruit Military in which they actively solicit military spouses.
