Veterans are brought onboard through an extensive onboarding process that track them during their initial 30-60-90 days. All Veterans are afforded training and development opportunities through classroom, online/webinar environment and conferences. Veterans are encouraged to participate in the certification and college programs where they are reimbursed 100% upon completion of the course. They are also encouraged to continue their self-development through our online university that offers over 1000 courses that are free. Veterans are given every opportunity to advance based on their performance. The Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG) plays a huge part in welcoming and mentoring new Veterans to ensure they are successful. The VERG is responsible for onboarding, mentorship, leader development and outreach efforts. The company has an internal webpage called “Stream”, on that page we have a dedicated page called “Windstream Veterans” where we share and post information. Every new Veteran is welcomed onboard and assigned a mentor to assist them through the integration process. Whenever possible, we use our Veterans to attend recruiting events, so they are able to share their experiences with potential military candidates.
