We offer a training course that provides education on the military branches, rank structure, strengths gained in the military and an overview of military occupational specialites. Within the training, we teach recruiters and hiring managers how to use this information to evalaute how a military candidate's experience translates to the private sector. The course also emphasizes ensuring a positive candidate experience as military candidates engage with Synchrony.

As part of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, we have created a direct feed to automatically post open roles so that military spouses can see all our open roles to see which aligns best with their experience and interests. We also partner with MSEP on virtual career fairs and business presentation.

military connected assistance

Through our Veterans Network employee resource group we regularly engage with veterans, military spouses and all employees to provide a mentorship program that pairs them with a veteran mentor to guide career and professional development. We also offer personal brand training that helps employees understand the importance of their personal branding and how to build theirs to help further their career within Synchrony. Our network also hosts town hall conversations where a Veteran Network leader discusses career pathing and provides advice to members. To actively keep our veteran and military spouse employees engaged we regularly highlight employees who've been promoted or excelled in their career. The veteran and military spouse employees of this network is also involved in the planning of our annual Diversity event that brings together members for networking and recognition events.

senior leadership

1. Richard Hartnack, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Synchrony. Richard Hartnack, is a military veteran who brings over three decades of experience in the banking industry to his role on the Board of Directors. His extensive background includes leadership experience in both banking and consumer finance. Richard served as Vice Chairman and Head, Consumer and Small Business Banking of U.S. Bancorp from April 2005 to February 2013. Prior to that, he served in various leadership roles at Union Bank, N.A. (formerly known as Union Bank of California, N.A.), from June 1991 to March 2005—including Vice Chairman and Head, Community Banking and Investment Services from 1999 to 2005. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded 14 Air Medals and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat 'V'. He flew over 200 combat missions during his military career.

2. Will Graylin, Synchrony Board Member: Will is Global Co-General Manager of Samsung Pay, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Prior thereto, Will was Chief Executive Officer of LoopPay, Inc. from 2012 to 2015. Between 2007 and 2012, he was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roam Data, Inc., from 2002 to 2007 was Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Way Systems, Inc., and from 2000 to 2001 was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Entitlenet, Inc. Will served in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer from 1992 to 1998. Will currently serves on the boards of directors of ONvocal, Inc., an acoustics wearables company, Movylo, Inc., a mobile promotion SaaS company, and People Power, Inc., an Internet of Things company. Will received a B.A. in Chinese Linguistics and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of Washington, an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 3. Bess Healy, SVP, Strategy and Transformation: As Strategy and Transformation Leader, Bess develops and executes strategies that transform the customer experience and deliver for the business. Bess and her team are creating the future of servicing through strategic initiatives by partnering across Enterprise Operations and Synchrony to further our investment into insights-driven technology solutions that enhance the customer experience while driving efficiency. Bess also leads the Synchrony Veterans Network. Prior to Synchrony, Bess joined GE in 2001 and served in various leadership roles supporting the delivery of technology solutions and integrations across multiple GE businesses. Bess was a Six Sigma Blackbelt with a focus on improvements to Global Computing Operations service delivery. Prior to joining GE, Bess served in the United States Army for seven years as an Officer in the Adjutant General’s Corps in various roles in the U.S. and Germany. While serving, Bess was commended for superior personnel and administrative support for eleven deployments in six months, including Bosnia, Kosovo and Hurricane Mitch Relief in Central America.

4. Greg Krause, SVP Auto Network: Greg Krause is a 20-year employee with Synchrony Financial. His current role is SVP of Sales for Payment Solutions. Payment Solutions is a platform of Synchrony Financial. Prior to joining Synchrony Financial, Greg served four years active duty as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division operating in a variety of roles including S-3 Staff Operations, Nuclear Biological Chemical (NBC) Officer, and Platoon Leader. Greg was hired into Synchrony Financial (formerly General Electric) via their junior military officer recruiting program in 1998. His first role was as a Six Sigma Black Belt. He moved around the company within several different functions taking on roles with increased scope, scale and responsibility. Today, Greg manages a large business within Payment Solutions and he leads Synchrony’s veteran recruiting efforts for the company’s Veterans Network affinity group comprised of over 3,000 members.
