The Orange County Sheriff's Office (Orlando, FL) is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in Florida. Operating with a $267 million budget, we excel with over 2,600 employees. Proudly, 426 employees are veterans or are currently serving in the National Guard or Reserves. Sheriff John Mina is an Army Veteran himself, having served as a Military Police Officer. He is dedicated to helping our veteran and military team members. He invests in every effort to hire qualified veterans, military, and their spouses. Sheriff Mina maintains a Military Recruiting Vehicle with a digital camouflage wrap to honor veterans and advertise his goal of hiring them. The “Wall of Honor” is proudly displayed in the Central Operations Building, lauding those employees who have served or are still serving their community and nation. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has initiated a new program to send care packages to deployed employees, and assistance packages to their families.

Our Veteran Advocate/Military Field Recruiter is very active in the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (ESGR), serving as the Central Florida Chair. He commits his time supporting Yellow Ribbon Events, aiding their employment, and issuing Patriot Awards to supportive employers of Guard and Reserve Members.

Rick DeMarco is our Military Field Recruiter/Veterans Advocate for the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida. He provides updates and briefings on military matters and situations of concern. New Background Investigators, as well as other newly employed HR Recruiting and Selections personnel, have access to ask questions and to be briefed by Rick as needed. We also have many military veterans, guard and reserve that work in our agency that can help as well. Our Sheriff, Sheriff John Mina is also former Army, Military Police Officer, from Fort Bragg.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida makes an effort to find, recruit, and hire military spouses. We even track the applications of military spouses on our Applicant Tracking System, NEOGOV. Almost every base has a Military Spouse Hiring Program. We communicate regularly with military bases and make every effort to recruit and hire these spouses. Since we have begun tracking military spouse applications, we are encouraged to see how many we are receiving. Major Andrea Demps Serves on the agency’s Senior Staff at the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida. She also serves as a U.S. Army Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Captain Reginald Hosey Serves on the agency’s Command Staff at the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida. Captain Hosey is also a retired soldier that served in the U.S. Army active duty and reserves.
